My suitcase is packed and I leave for Prague in two hours. My mind is steadfast on the week to come. I am thankful this morning for God's newness. I am thankful that God calls us to see things with new eyes and fresh vision. I am excited about the future.
Please be in prayer for Suzanah and I as we listen to God and move towards the dream of a book. We write, research and dream each step with you in mind. We are all on a journey to wholeness. Thank you for walking with us.
It's snowing in Prague and I'm enjoying a busy week full of dissertation meetings and a gathering of the International Christian Alliance on Prostitution.
Lori comes on Saturday. On Saturday we will take serious steps toward the writing of a book. On Saturday we welcome your prayers towards this endeavor.
Sabrina Ward Harrison writes amazing books. Here is an excerpt from, The True and the Questions: A Journal. Happy Wednesday, S Life is a growing expedition through the tangled and unfilled-in parts. What happensafter age nine? Because of the fear we don't trust our own life? Our story. Our colors. To be afraid and leap regardlessthere is such power in that. To live into the questions of our liveswhen nothing feels clear. We have this chance to do absolutely anything, to reach out to another, vulnerable and true. To dance on the roof in euphoria. To pray into the ocean and let go. We have this chance every moment to be alive and give to this world, which needseach one of us. We must show up for our own life . Be brave Be messy Be loud Be strong Trust yourself
I must admit that one of my guilty pleasures is the movie Clueless with Alicia Silverstone. I love this scene where Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is attempting to make over her new friend Tai. In the dialogue before this clip, Cher coaches Tai on working on all aspects of her life, daily:
CHER: “OK, from now on we're alternating Cindy Crawford's "Aerobicise" and "Buns of Steel", and reading one non-school book a week. My first book is "Fit or Fat". TAI: Mine is "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus". CHER: Good. Now that takes care of our minds and bodies, but we should do something good for mankind or the planet for a couple of hours.
Today, may we seek ways to enrich our lives in all aspects; body, mind, and soul.
Sparkfly friends, how will we change the world, if we can't take care of ourselves?
Run a mile, chat with a friend, read a biography, discuss politics over dinner, read the NY Times,be a mentor, learn a new word, challenge yourself today to become a better you, in Christ.
One of most inspiring aspects our Christian faith is hope. Hope gets me up in the morning. Hope drives me to creativity. Hope lifts me from dark moments of doubt. Hope whispers to me, "there is something more".
I have a friend who celebrates hope. Throughout her apartment are trinkets, post-it's, souvenirs, and magnets with the word "hope". Maybe like my friend, we need to be reminded of the great hope we possess. As our hopes ebb and flow from daily hopes to life hopes, may we remember the One in whom our hope is found.
What are your hopes for today? What are your hopes for this year? What are your hopes for this life?
I hope to find a place this Sunday where I can truly worship and be filled.
What about you? What do you hope, whether big or small? Whether immediate or ongoing? What do you hope for?
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future nor any powers neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord."
