Prayers for Buma

If you've read the paper or watched the news lately you know the country of Burma (Myanmar) is experiencing a humanitarian crisis.

Please be mindful of current news coming from Burma. I'm lighting a candle and listening to my For the Lady CD.

reunion

This weekend Meg Olive and I attended a Camp Pinnacle staff reunion. My Camp Pinnacle is in Clayton, GA and we are celebrating 60 years of camping. The weekend was amazing. There were staffers there from the 1950s.

Lori was in Georgia officiating at the wedding of her God brother.

Susan Jones preached at Covenant Community Church in Elba, AL.

LeAnn Gunter Johns attended her 10 year high school reunion in FL.

Hope you had a great weekend.

Influence

I'm working from home today and even though I'm not over Rosie's departure from The View, I have the show on at the moment. Whoopi Goldberg is delightful and I'm enjoying her presence in the infamous moderator chair. One of today's guest is Monique Coleman of High school Musical fame.

Joining the cast on the couches, she was instantly star struck by her long time role model Whoopi Goldberg. She couldn't contain her tears and a torrent of gracious compliments erupted for her mentor. It was touching to watch. Whoopi sweetly wiped her tears and gave her a hug. Once Monique caught her breath she said, "Can I come to your house for Thanksgiving?"

My dream is to cover human rights stories with Ann Curry. What is yours? Who do you consider a role model in your life?

Proclamation

Lately I've been doing a lot of proclaiming about Pulpits for Women . Pulpits for Women is the unofficial name given to the Martha Stearns Marshall Day of Preaching coming up February 3, 2007.

Spreading the word seems to have conjured up personal opportunities to preach. My new job at Covenant Community Church is regularly placing me in the pulpit.

Lori has been preaching a lot lately too. She's on staff at the Congregational Church of Manhasset.

What about you? Have you been doing any preaching lately? If so, please share the location and the title of your last sermon.

Would you like a pulpit? We are pulpit looking for you. Get your sermon ready for February 3rd. It's Transfiguration Sunday and the lectionary passages for that day can be found here: http://divinity.library.vanderbilt.edu/lectionary
