what i need to hear

This post was inspired by a conversation I had last night with close friend. She proposed a simple question to me that has since launched my mind and soul into a multitude of thoughts.

This is what she inquired: "What do you need to hear right now? What words do you need someone to speak to you at this time in your life?"

Since we hung up, my mind has not stopped thinking about the answer to her question. I am still answering it as I think of new additions.

But, to my dear friend...who inspires me so...here are only a few of the answers to your thoughtful and heart-searching question:

1. I need to hear that my crazy aspirations for ministry are from God.
2. I need to hear that although I'm only 28 (almost) that I have something to offer the world
3. I need to hear that our call is always in process, so we should enjoy the ride...ups and downs
4. I need to hear that just because I don't feel called to a "typical" ministry position that my call
is still valid and genuine
5. I need to hear that God takes our past hurts and faithfully turns them into a redemptive
mystery.
6. I need to hear that sometimes it's okay if you need to work in retail or other part-time jobs
(even though you have a masters) because you have to make money somehow, and you're
not willing to settle in a 9-5 "ministry" job that you're not called to.
7. I need to hear that I am valued; I am needed, and I have gifts to give to God.

Sparkfly community, What do you need to hear today?

May we encourage one another as we seek to live out the abundant life Christ calls us to.
L

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10

So much of your list is exactly what I need to hear. Here are some others...

I need to hear God's voice leading me.

I need to hear that my dreams are valid and God given.

I need to hear the sounds of understanding when I tell people where my hear is.

I need to hear that it will all work out.

I need to hear that there is a way to do the ministry I feel called to even though I can't seem to raise the money to do it full time.

I need to hear that I have something to offer even though I haven't been where these women are and haven't had the hands on experience of working side by side with them.

I need to hear the answers to all the questions and random thoughts that run through my head and heart.

I needed to hear that other people have things they need to hear.

I need to hear that my self-worth does not depend on the grades that I make.

I need to hear that it is okay that my paper is now two days late.

I need to hear that I AM called to ministry.

I need to hear that I should take better care of myself.

I need to hear that my friends at least try to understand me and my "crazy" career choice.

First time visitor and I just wanted to say after reading your profile how impressive your work is. I like reading about people of faith.

The phone photo was interesting as well. It reminded me of a Random act of kindness idea I was told about. You tape coins to pay phones for people to use.

You are more than just the things on the list. That is clear to me.

I need to hear that yes, I am still a minister even though I am no longer employed as one full time as of yesterday.

I also need to hear that it is not a horrible tragedy and waste for me to work in retail for the next little while.

I need to hear that it is not all about pleasing others and it is not completely selfish to take time out of full time ministry for me.

I need to hear that there are others out there--women and men--who are interested in digging deeper into our faith...living out our faith...and not just be satisfied with the status quo.

I need you to hear how thankful I am for this blog community!
