happy (late) thanksgiving!! let's talk about writers (merton, foster, and others) and friends who inspire us....
Nat
I really enjoyed reading about the girl who won the contest and went on the trip to Africa. I would like to see more of the amazing stories of what young women are doing today. Where they came from and what inspired them to do what they are doing now.
I'd love some Advent-themed posts as we enter this season of waiting and anticipation. I'm always in need of reminders not to rush through Advent to Christmas. What might we read and think about together to encourage us to savor the gift of waiting as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ?
Also, how do we avoid getting caught up in the commercialism/ commercialization of Christmas? How, if at all, does our observance of Advent and our celebration of Christmas distinguish us from the world? Should Christians celebrate differently?
I agree with Mandy. I think it would be meaningful to discuss different aspects of Advent and how it applies to each of us currently. And, I love the idea of "making Christmas simple". How do we celebrate differently...good stuff.
Is it too late to cash in my chips for a prize?
I'd like the opportunity once a week to discuss current events . . . how we are being affected by what's going on and what we're doing to make a difference.
I get the bulk of my news fix from the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. So while I laugh at what's going on, I'd like the opportunity to discuss it.
. . . just a thought.
oooh...I like Susie's idea too...
Great ideas everybody. Thanks! OK, email me your address (suzanahraffield@yahoo.com).
Happy weekend!
Suzanah
